Voting on Environment I am listening to a heap of people around town voting for government based solely on environmental policy. I think we are starting to loose site of a large part of the picture.
Would you vote on a government that has great environment policies before these factors.
Health- (Hospitals, Emergency services, research ect ect)
Education- (free/cheap education, School facilities and upgrades, Universities and technical schools)
Security, safety- (Police, fire, ect)
Jobs- (being able to have a job and get paid fairly so you can feed yourself and your family)
Taxes- (Not being taken advantage of by greedy policies)
There is much more I can add to this list. My question is; would you give up a good education system and Health system for a government that cares for the environment above all else?
Would you vote on environment if you can’t get a JOB? Can’t get a doctor when you’re SICK? Can’t afford to send your children to SCHOOL? Can’t go out at night because it dangerous? Let’s not loose our heads.
I’m not saying I don’t care. The environment is all around us. We are the environment, city, car, tv and all. I think a lot of people are using it as a means to feel they have done there bit for nature “out there”. Not at home or in the suburbs we live the bodies we have but out there in the wild.
Have we separated nature and ourselves our materials from this view of nature? We are now trying to preserve natural environments. Like an old man/lady trying to stay young forever. Preservation is not environmentally friendly. Creating nature around us is. Seeing the city, the home, the body/mind and the machines we use as nature. We can then begin to understand nature as a whole, not just a forest far from home that a vote or a few dollars can fix.
